Building a website is more than just throwing up something with your contact information. It must provide an appealing visitor experience that performs well in search engine results pages (SERPs), like Google. For this, you need the right tools and the right perspective. We asked the pros for their tips on how to create a website, and here’s what they had to say:
Our fantastic client, Cape Cod Treasure Chest, needed a fully-functioning e-commerce website with shopping cart to vend their beautiful outdoor furniture. A visit to their website will show you their complete inventory of products, and the design of the site makes it super simple to get from one page to the next. The shopping cart is customer friendly, easy to use and accepts popular credit cards. E-commerce website owners may also opt to accept Paypal to increase the options they give to their customers when they come to the checkout counter. A site that functions as beautifully as this is the solution for most e-commerce businesses because it fully meets the needs of the site owner, the customers and the search engines.

I have tried and tried Go Daddy and while they have phenomenal tech service people, I tried to use their site builder and loved the fact that everything came with it, from hosting to email, to SEO and more, it costs (NOT FREE) and the font was so small I could not read it with my glasses even though I don’t need glasses, and then changed to the lesser of the two choices they have website builder and that was exactly the same, cannot enlarge the font or the whole page enlarges but not the font and make page smaller, font still stays the same. Spent way too much wasted time and sad to say will cancel tomorrow to use (as my feelings tonite tell me to do) site builder.

The service was excellent! Every question we asked was answered promptly by friendly staff, and we absolutely love our website and logo designs. The design team was easy to work with and took our direction well. They were able to organize even our most vague concepts and add their own creativity to bring our vision to life. We highly recommend Deluxe.

Whether you’re interested in learning web design to go freelance or to work for a company, you’ll need to stay on top of your schedule and your projects to be a standout web designer. This can mean getting to know productivity apps like task lists or calendars or, especially if you’re in a large organization, learning project tracking tools like Trello or JIRA. Whatever the tools, mastering the art of prioritizing and tracking your work will be essential for your success (and sanity!) in the busy world of web design.
You sure can. But before we can give you advice, we need to know more about your web business, the audience you’re trying to sell to, and how you want it to look. Give us a call and let’s chat about it. We’ll get you in touch with one of our web experts who can help you determine how to best create your e-commerce site. You can reach us at 239-449-4749!
For businesses that aren’t brick and mortar — a graphic designer working out of their home, for instance — list your office hours and time zone so that customers know when you’ll be available and answering emails/calls/etc. This will help prevent 7 pm emails from customers expecting an immediate response. It will also help you separate work hours from actual life hours — something that can be difficult when you work out of your house.
Webs is an ideal website builder for small businesses because it offers an unrivalled level of SEO functionality. Built-in search indicators can help you to optimize your new website so that your small business starts to generate organic traffic quicker. The platform’s themes are well-designed. Changes can be made instantly and all of the layouts are relatively intuitive.
Although people tend to find your site through a branded search in Google, it’s still important to make your domain easy to spell/type out. If it requires a lot of effort to type correctly, due to trying to spell it, the length or the use of un-memorable words or sounds, you’ve probably kissed goodbye to a good portion of your branding and marketing value.
This statement is commonly made by specialty shop owners and real estate agents. Real estate agents will add "I already invest high dollars in space advertising." This is probably one of the most frustrating objections for me because the business owners that say this are some of the nicest people I've met - and are usually sound business people. They know how to treat a customer or client with special care.
Yup. According to LSA’s (Local Search Association) April 2017 report, “The Digital Consumer Study,” 63 percent of consumers primarily use a company’s website to find and engage with businesses. That’s a pretty big chunk of consumers. Combine that with the fact that 93 percent of online experiences begin with a search engine—you do the math. Another compelling reason your business needs a website? Research by YellowPages and LSA found that, on average, consumers use approximately three sources before making an individual purchase decision, and 30 percent automatically strike a business from consideration if they don’t have a website.
