Hi, just came across this article. Its a fantastic illustration of how small to medium sized businesses can use Awards based promotion to get their companies recognised on the 1st page of Google. Awards programmes offer many benefits to winners. After all they bring recognition and you can share the news of your win with your employees, clients, industry peers and target market as many times as you like. Additonally awards offer prestige and status, giving potential customers peace of mind that they are working with a reputable company. There are many types of awards programmes, including those that host awards ceremonies (and you pay per table), organisations that award only their members (and you pay for membership and sponsorship) and those that provide promotional materials. The latter is a great way for those who are unsure about the benefits of using corporate awards programmes because generally nominees and winners do not have to pay a penny to be a participant. Winners often receives online recognition, usually with a reach much greater than their own marketing efforts can deliver. Other free benefits can include the use of an press release. Most participants have the option to purchase additional marketing materials to further enhance their win, if they wish to, for use in social media campaigns, on their own website, email marketing campaigns or in customer newsletters.

If you run an auto repair shop, a website can be your best friend. Why? Because your customers may assume that your services are more expensive or complicated than they really are. People generally feel very anxious about taking their car to the shop; a website that offers clear pricing, service details, and online estimates is an easy way to earn their trust and loyalty. If you offer auto detailing services, a website gives you a chance to show off your handiwork with impressive photos.

As a result, it is actually damaging to the business (your blog and your readers) to spend your time as a blog owner trying to figure stuff out on the development side all by yourself, when you could hire someone else to do the web development and website management, and you could be spending that time writing valuable articles and coming up with more great content for your blog.
Having a website also allows your local business to sell more often to existing customers and reach additional customers. If you offer products and services for sale on your website, you give your customers a chance to buy on their own time and on their own terms. You can improve customer retention by offering personalized accounts that include customer profiles, transaction histories and product recommendations. Plus, your local business may have the chance to become a state, regional, national or even global business if you are willing to ship products to customers outside the local market.
The flashy graphics and catchy text you see on websites is only about 20% of what goes into developing the site. Behind all those pretty pages are codes and tags, specifically written to attain a higher placement in search engines, make the pages load faster and be more user friendly. Most beginners and hobbyists lack knowledge in the proper usage of codes, scripts, tags and search engine optimization. If you have a pretty web site, but no one can find it, you lose enormous marketing power.

Some web designers/developers like to install WordPress manually to get a custom install of the components they want and don’t want. Others will need to manually install because their web host does not have the “1-click-installation” capability. If this applies to you then you’ll need to have a quick read through of my Manual WordPress Set-Up Guide.

"If you are a beginner and want the easiest, most professional, web-building site - then this is the one. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. The customer support is brilliant. I am in the UK but they replied to my query on a Sunday. A wide selection of templates which are very adaptable plus new features regularly being added. Very cost-effective hosting. Simply the best. Im a small business owner thats wanting to join the online presence. But as said in the other posts, it is scary for me. Im good at what i do but know nothing about making a website. Doing what your competitors do is not always necessary or even wise. However, one important reason you need a website is to stay on par competitively. Since many customers rely on search engines to find products or services, you need a website to have a chance to show up among their search results. If you don't have a website, you give your competitors the advantage of drawing new business from new customers who might have preferred your products and services had you publicized them better.
This was her reply: ‘We opened this place as a bait and tackle shop. Then people wanted coffee so we provided that. Then some asked for sandwiches, so we provided that. Later they wanted a few tables where they could sit and chat while they ate their sandwiches, so we got tables and chairs and began doing lunches. That led to dinners. Then we didn’t have enough room so we added the screened in porch for the summer. People loved the porch so much that we winterized for the colder months. Now that it’s January, we thought we might be able to close one day a week and get some time off. But we can’t. We’re too busy. We’ve never advertised and we’re tired. If a website is going to bring more people in here — no thanks!'”
