This is the exact opposite of mistake #1. Let me start by revealing a dirty little secret when it comes to website design. Most people think, “Oh, I’m going to hire a professional website firm because I want a “real website” As opposed to a Word Press website or something else.” And what most people don’t realize is that all websites are made from the same stuff.

For many small businesses, where to start is the barrier, along with time and money. It’s hard to fathom that in the US, 58% of small businesses currently don’t have a website and its 2013! With so many low cost and even free options and the shift in buyers behavior to a more online first type of approach, it boggles the mind why it’s not closer to 100% of businesses, sort of like a telephone number or street address is. The good news is that Intuit and Google have teamed up to help small businesses come online by offering a free domain registration and website hosting for one year along with some howto type resources to help business owners get started. It’s hard to see why a small business currently without a website would not take advantage of this offer given that that nearly all online consumers, 97% use online media when researching local products and services, even for purchases made offline. Thanks for sharing.
Total Internet Marketing Budget, Total Advertising Budget, Return on Investment - For this issue, it’s important to think from the perspective of two different questions, and your thoughtful answers to those questions. The first question would be, “How much money would you be willing and able to spend with a Website Designer if you aren’t expecting immediate return on your investment.” The second question would be, “How much money would you be willing and able to spend with a Website Designer who had a track record of high ROI (return on investment) for their clients.” Obviously, if you knew there was a high chance for poor ROI, your budget for that project might be very close to zero. But the higher your chances for substantial ROI, the more funds you might be willing to dedicate towards your Internet Marketing services with a prospective new Website Designer. Unless you just hate making money. Which we seriously doubt. Otherwise you wouldn’t be here!
It is often by looking at how others have done things that a business owner comes up with the best plan for his own needs. Here we would like to present to you three simple case studies of small businesses we work with, going from the most basic type of informational website, to a fully-functioning e-commerce website. Please, feel free to visit these sites to explore how they are designed and organized, and how they function. Doing this will help you to formulate a better idea of what type of website will be appropriate for the scope of your company or group.
Write Long-Form Content — Once upon a time, stuffing your content with your top keyword would help you rank in the search results. Gone are those days, and just like on that first date we talked about earlier, you’ll actually be penalized for trying too hard. These days, it’s better to simply write your content for the user. Be as comprehensive and helpful as possible and Google will reward you.

Website builders come with a host of free and paid stock photos and templates to make your site look sharp and stylish. But different sites have different image needs, so even though our top five website builders’ templates and images cover almost every industry, it’s worth checking first that the templates and images they offer meet the specific needs of your business.
Just a note for those of you who may be looking for a recommendation. I used SiteBuilder for 10 years and they are phenomenal! Supported by intuit I think, so they are not going anywhere. I owned my domain name and was able to transfer at anytime. I am anything but computer savvy. But they are idiot proof and always available to assist. Fantastic layouts and design tools. I had dozens of pages with thousands of pics. Paypal. I did upgrade and it was WELL worth the $20 to $25 dollars I paid monthly. I am here because I do not need such space for my new business. So I will check out these sites also. (Thanks for putting them all together for us). But I have a feeling I will go back to SiteBuilder.
BoldGrid boasts no learning curve, with a drag and drop builder that’s easy to use. The website builder software includes a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor and thousands of free, mobile-friendly, WordPress themes so you can design your site any way you want. Plus you can make your site look even better with the free images that are included.
Instead of the “Product Group” section, I added images and titled them per what I wanted to appear on the homepage. For example, the photo I wanted to link to a page about the services offered for weddings, I titled “Weddings.” The photo I wanted to link to a page about how to order bouquets for different events was titled “Bouquets.” To edit images added to your product group, simply double click them to bring up a pop-up editing box (shown below).
Or you can install the CMS manually if you want to change some default features in the course. First, you upload engine files to your server, then create a database and database user. After you’ve assigned the user to the database, just open your site url and follow 2 – 4 installation steps (like adding your site name and filling in other details). There it is.
